I considered writing a omgsquee post about The Peacekeeper Wars when I watched it the other day, but decided against it since it would just be gushing and most probably not somehting I hadn't said before. But then they posted a new challenge at
scifiland which was to write a review an episode (or two). It could just be a running commentary so I thought what the heck, lets write that gushy post anyway!

Holy crap I love this show so much! I always forget how amazing the actors and writers are. So this "review" will just be me, squeeing at everything and pointing out things I love ok? XD John & Aeryn... so amazing in this. I really like the fact that when we first see them they have just gotten engaged. Their whole struggle to find eachother and whatnot is totally over. The only thing that could tear them apart now would be one of them dying. Throughout the mini they are so nicely synched. One tiny bit that I absolutely adore is in the second half when they're in the ruins on the water planet, and they both lick the mags and push them into their respective pulse pistols at the same time. It's not important whatsoever, but it just makes me happy. Just everything they say about eachother to other people... it's all so natural, so perfect. They mean everything to eachother ♥ I love how Aeryn doesn't have to say anything as the world is about to end. How John accuses everyone for asking for the weapon, but just apologizes to Aeryn for what he has done. And how she's just there for him. 100% supportive, not judging one bit. Then as he falls... her utter despair. It's probably the most painful scene in the entire show. Just her panic. And you realise how far she has come from the soldier we saw in Permiere. She's been through this loss once, she can't bear going through it again. Then by the bed as John's lifeless. Her little speach, leaving the baby and just standing in the doorway, trying not to cry... then that big smile when John wakes up. Oh gods ♥ I absolutely love the birth of Little D. Claudia is such a great actress. Haha, the pregnant women in the crew had to leave cause she made it seem so real and so extremely painful that they couldn't stand it XD Aeryn is great. Shooting a big pulse rifle as Chiana tries to turn the baby around. That is one kickass woman *laugh* And I love that she's so angry through it all. She's not ready for this half human child to give her so much trouble. Gotta love her screams as well, I especially like her screaming into John's mouth as they kiss. I love that John isn't some whimpy father standing by helplessly as his baby mama is in pain. He helps her with everything, as pulse shots fly above their heads. Which always reminds me of David Bowie's song Heroes: And the guns - shot above our heads And we kissed - as though nothing could fall Love how proud they both are, and how Aeryn is with the baby afterwards. She was not ready to be a mother, but she loves her son so much that it doesn't matter. And bless her sebacean genes making it possible to shoot Scarrans right after giving birth. Speaking of the baby. Rygel being pregnant is hilarious. He's so angry/annoyed about it, then he realises it means he will be everyone's highest priority (cause he's John and Aeryn's highest priority which means everyone else follows)... oh but then afterwards when he's hormonal and missing the baby. Poor Rygel *laugh* It doesn't make sense whatsoever that he's pregnant after eating the crystals of the baby, but lets ignore that. Shush. I love when he's telling Jool that John and Aeryn are having his baby XD Oh yeah Jool, so nice to see her again. I know some people didn't like her but I absolutely loved her. So sad to see her get killed ;; But it was expected really. I never really loved Sikozu, but I think she's really interesting in PKW. She's totally hot anyways (not beating Aeryn though). I like her new outfit and I love her new hairdo. I want it. If I wasn't considering tattooing cherryblossoms on my back I would've totally tattooed her stuff on my spine. It's pretty and totally geeky without being obvious. I liked the fact that she was the spy, and that Scorpy knew. His punishment was wonderfully painful. Breaking her spine and leaving her still alive in the rubble. And you gotta love her blowing up the prison door XD Noranti is always a joy to watch. I'm sad that Melissa got allergic to her makeup so that they had to cut down on Noranti's screen time and use another actress for some scenes (it's still Melissa's voice though isn't it?) Stark was absolutely awesome in this. His normal crazy self, then all scared and even weirder with the Eidelon knowledge in his head. Aaaw he was so cute sitting on a crate while Moya flooded ♥ Loved him hen he married John and Aeryn "You two love each other enough to be married forever? [..] Then you are. Congratulations." And he got his peace in the end as well. No more light. It was quite beautiful. But then we have the death of D'Argo. I really cried this time. I love how accepting both Aeryn and John are of D'Argo dying. They're sad, but they understand that in war, people die. D'Argo yelling "I'm your daddy!" through the tears and pain as he shoots Scarran after Scarran is heartbreaking, but a perfect way for D'Argo to go. And speaking of Scarrans. I love Akhna XD And I can't help thinking about the fact that the actress is married to Ben Browder. How fun mustn't that be? To get to walk around in fetish boots pointing a gun at your husband XD And then having his on screen wife kill you haha. Aw I love Francesca, and the fact that she has a role in every season of Farscape. To quote what I said about it for that tv meme I never finished: I love that it begins with the end. You know something is wrong, Moya is in pieces and with Aeryn's voice over you get that something has happened to John. But you don't know what, you don't know why and you don't know when. And well, I just love Claudia's voice. So that intro pretty much gives me chills. I love how we get that again, twice. Once with John's voice over about not being able to keep Aeryn and the baby safe, and then once with Scorpy begging John to make the weapon. It gives you that uneasy feeling of sensing what's coming up and that it's bad... but not knowing exactly what or how. And we finally got an explanation to why Sebaceans are so alike humans! They were taken from Earth while humanity was just getting started. Then they were genetically engineered to become peacekeepers. I absolutely adore the makeup in Farscape in general, and certainly so in PKW. Not the crazy stuff (well that's pretty too), but the normal makeup. The wounds and scratches. It's just so very well done. I love the winks to loyal fans who remembers things from the previous seasons. Like John's remark that he's telling their story for the 89th time. Before PKW we got 88 episodes XD Or when Moya dives into the ocean. John and Aeryn brace themselves between two protruding pieces of bulkhead. They're being thrown back and forth as John is holding Aeryn's waist. The very same thing happened sometime early s1, it's even in the title sequence! Except that back then Aeryn wasn't pregnant and she didn't exactly like close contact xD And of course the portrait of Rygel that Zhaan drew! It's still in his quarters. Then we have the interesting hints to the two John's being linked somehow. John in this has flashes of what the John who died on Talyn did with the wormhole in Icarus Abides. He "remembers" the sun hurtling through the wormwhole and destroying the dreadnaught. And of course the star. I think John did that before being split though. But I so so love that he says "that one is yours" to Aeryn as they're looking at the stars in the last scene ♥ When John has bene into the wormhole to see Einstein and get the weapon knowledge he returns bleeding. Once he has some sort of bandaid on, and when that is removed, we see that he hurt himself in the exact same place as Talyn!John. The scar is the same size even. It is a really good end for the show. Bad Timing was NOT a good end, and they knew it and put a "To be continued" on it XD But this, this is excellent. We get a big final showdown. John and Aeryn get their happy ending as a family. We lose someone we love but that's just the way Farscape is... and we have peace. It might not last, but we have. And no one will hunt John for what's in his brain anymore. And PKW is utterly gorgeous visually. Which is only right consideringhow pretty the rest of the show has been at times. |
