Yeah same here. And I've always been. I remember when I was around 13 and told my friend about these awesome fantasy books I had just read. She had to read them and went from reading just teenage horse books to proper fantasy XD And form there it just went on.
I think with the shipping I might just have been lucky for quite a while. My favourite shows weren't afraid of actually putting the mains together, or having stable relationships. And they just gave us so much, that I just couldn't wish for anything else you know? My OTP of all OTPs got it on mid s1. Then there was problems along the way and it was a bit on and off (with the wonders of sci fi meaning people actually died and came back). Some happy times, some not so happy times. But still actual proper relationship struggle going on all throughout the series and with so much given to us (from joy to serious serious angst) that we didn't even need fanfic. And then my other favourite show had my ship freakin married at the end of s2 (of four) XD
But with SPN... they are quite dependent on eachother and well... last time Cas graced the screen they pretty much made it at least one sided canon *laugh*
oh and the SPN writes doesn't even have to work to make me a hardcore tv masochist. I'm the kind of girl who can take out her favourite shows or movies and just watch the parts that make me cry XD If the season finale of SPN doesn't have me in tears I will get angry.
